Coming Back for the One

When I moved my front steps, an opossum scurried away from under it and escaped under the house.    But the unusual thing about this opossum was that she was carrying an arched tail load of countless young, pink babies.   As I continued to work to repair the steps, I noticed there was a baby possum lying helplessly there in the dirt.   The little creature had missed the bus on the quick exit by the mother.   However, as I stood there, leaning on my shovel, looking at the little helpless baby opossum, out from under the house came the mother possum, still fully loaded with a tail full of many small possums.   She gathered the baby onto her tail and off back under the house she went.    How did she know she had left one?   There were so many, all looking alike.   Why would she risk coming back with me standing with a shovel right there above her for just another baby when she had so many already?    Why the one? Falling Into a Sewer Hole

My septic field line was stopped up. Nothing seemed to work until  I dug a large hole over the line and took a chain saw to the sewer pipe.  Things  happened.  With some help from a  high pressure water hose the blockage started coming loose. However the large hole I was spread eagled over began to fill up.  In fact, I was so stretched out over the large hole that I knew it would be tenuous to get out of that position.  I tried and it was going OK  until I slipped a bit on wet clay and I started on a fall. Not wanted to fall into the large hole of filling sewer, I quickly rolled the side and somehow managed to stay on the edge of the hole and finally rolled myself over wet sewer mud to get out. Looking back it was a funny but pleasant experience.  I was OK  The line came unclogged, the water in the hole went down and it all ended well.  Not a bad day...thanks God. Life has had me stretched out about to fall into the sewers of life b...

Mighty Man of Valor

Is it real or is it just me yearning to complete an unfulfilled dream? The ironman effort seems so far away now, with so many obstacle in front between me and completion.  I want to go peacefully into the night but a light keeps coming on.  It's like a fire I can't put out and I pray for guidance, full knowing I should NOT go after another ironman.  But, it seems I keep getting those answers everywhere I turn.  "Don't quit,"  "God equips you with what you need."  "God is calling you to trust Him that He will see you through."  And on and on it goes. Everywhere there is a "God wants this" message and I don't know if it is Him or from below and bent on my destruction and my family's as well. What a risk that would be?  And too, perhaps it is what I want to see and hear so I can blame God on my poor decision?  That kind of self centered self deception would not be serving God but only myself.    I feel like Gideon hearing from ...
